General Information

Can I buy food and drinks at Floriade NightFest?

Yes, there will be a range of food and drink available for sale, including quick and easy food options, a la carte dining, a selection of picnic hampers and local wine tastings and sales.

Can I bring a picnic into Floriade NightFest?

Yes.

Can I bring alcohol into Floriade NightFest?

Yes.

What is the weather like in Canberra during Floriade?

Spring temperatures in Canberra range from an average minimum of 5° to an average maximum of 19°.

What happens if it rains?

Floriade Nightfest is an outdoor event and is subject to changing weather conditions. The event will continue in the case of rain and will only be cancelled if the weather conditions are considered dangerous by Floriade Management. This may occur at short notice, in which case patrons may exchange tickets for another night or obtain a full refund.

Patrons accept that weather they might consider unsatisfactory may occur and acknowledge that tickets will not be exchanged or refunded unless the event is cancelled by Floriade Management.

The performance of Strange Fruit may be cancelled or postponed in the case of rain. This decision is made for the safety of the performers and does not entitle the ticket holder to a refund or exchange.

All ticket holders are advised to make provision for wet weather. Ponchos will be available for purchase at the Floriade Shop, however we strongly recommend you bring your own wet weather gear. The use of umbrellas during film screenings is not permitted as it obstructs the view of other audience members.

If the event is cancelled information will be posted on www.floriadeaustralia.com and details released on local radio stations.

Will I get a refund if it rains?

Floriade Nightfest is an outdoor event and is subject to changing weather conditions. The event will continue in the case of rain and will only be cancelled if the weather conditions are considered dangerous by Floriade Management. This may occur at short notice, in which case patrons may exchange tickets for another night or obtain a full refund.

How will I know if the event is cancelled?

In the unlikely occurrence where the event is cancelled, information will be posted on the event website www.floriadeaustralia.com and communicated through local radio announcements. Event Organisers will take all reasonable efforts to notify of a cancellation ASAP, however please note that due to the unpredictability of a change in weather conditions, cancellations may be at short notice.

What happens if the event is cancelled?

In the unlikely occurrence that the event is cancelled, ticket holders to that night may exchange tickets for another night or obtain a full refund.

What happens if I miss the night of the event that I have a ticket for?

Tickets will not be exchanged or refunded unless the event is cancelled.

What time do film screenings start?

It is best to arrive soon after the gates open at 6pm to enable you to experience all that Floriade NightFest has to offer. Specific film screening times will be confirmed closer to the event.

What happens if I arrive late?

Ticket-holders will be admitted into Floriade NightFest until 10pm.

How do I get to Floriade NightFest?

Floriade is held in Commonwealth Park, a five-minute walk from Canberra’s city centre. Here is all the information you need to make your journey to Floriade as simple as possible.

Entry gates

The three public entry gates are located at:

  • Regatta Point off Commonwealth Avenue
  • The Parkes Way footbridge next to the Olympic Pool car park in Allara Street
  • At the eastern end of Nerang Pool, with access via the underpass off Constitution Avenue

Drop-off zone at Regatta Point

Pick-up and set-down at Regatta Point is permitted for visitors with young children or less mobile passengers. Parking in the pick-up and set-down zone is strictly prohibited.

Parking

Parking is available at various public car parks within close proximity to Floriade (fees may apply), including:

  • Acton Park off Commonwealth Avenue
  • Public car parks off Constitution Avenue
  • Public car parks off London Circuit
  • There is also parking opposite Questacon, located on the south side of Commonwealth Bridge.

Accessible parking

Free parking for people with limited mobility is available adjacent to the Regatta Point entry (access off Commonwealth Avenue). Parking is limited and vehicles must display an authorised disability permit.

Wheelchair, electric scooter and stroller hire

Floriade NightFest is accessible to wheelchairs.

A limited number of wheelchairs, electric scooters and strollers are available for hire from the Wheelchair Marquee located inside the Regatta Point entry gate.

Hire fees are $10 for electric scooters and $5 for wheelchairs and strollers.

Bookings can be made by phoning Australian Capital Tourism on
02 6205 0666 during business hours. We will need your name, contact phone number, the number of wheelchairs, electric scooters and/or strollers required and the date and preferred time for the booking.

It is possible to hire and book on the night at the Wheelchair Hire Marquee, however priority is given to previous bookings.

Buses

A ‘special event’ bus stop is located on both sides of Commonwealth Avenue, close to the Regatta Point entry to Floriade. ACTION buses provide regular bus services between Floriade and the city's four main town centres.

Further details and ticket prices will be available closer to the event from ACTION on 13 17 10 or www.action.gov.au.

Bikes and trikes

Why not ride your bicycle to Floriade NightFest? For your convenience, bicycle racks are located at the Parkes Way and Regatta Point entrance gates to Floriade. Make sure you bring your own chain and lock, as bicycles and tricycles must be left at the gate.

In the interests of public safety, bicycles and tricycles must not be walked through Floriade NightFest and should be left at the bike racks. This includes hand held tricycles for young children.

Skateboards, rollerblades and scooters

In the interest of public safety, skateboards, scooters and rollerblades/skates are not permitted within the gates of Floriade.

Yes, chairs are allowed. A designated area will be allocated for patrons with chairs.

Can I leave Floriade NightFest and come back?

Yes. Please retain your ticket for re-entry to Floriade NightFest.

What happens to lost property?

Lost property can be collected from the Floriade Information Marquee throughout Floriade until 12 October. After 12 October, please phone (02) 6205 0666 for any lost property enquiries. Any items not claimed by Monday 1 December 2008 will be donated to charity.

What does a ticket entitle me to?

Ticket-holders have complete access to all public areas within Floriade NightFest, including all activities, entertainment, film screenings and exhibitions. Amusement rides, food and drink and market shopping attracts additional costs.

Where can I buy tickets?

You can buy tickets online through Ticketmaster, phone 136 100 to purchase by phone, or visit any Ticketmaster outlet (including a brand new outlet at the Manuka Newsagency – 38 Franklin St, Manuka, ACT) or the Canberra and Region Visitors Centre to purchase in person.

Ticketmaster accepts Mastercard, Visa, Diners Club and American Express.

I don’t have a credit card. How can I buy tickets to Floriade NightFest?

You can:

  • Visit a Ticketmaster outlet and pay by cash in person
  • Visit the Canberra and Region Visitors Centre at 330 Northbourne Avenue, Dickson to pay by cash in person.
  • Purchase your tickets using cash at any of the Floriade NightFest gates from 6.00pm for that night’s entry only.

How do I collect my tickets?

There are a range of ticket collection and delivery options available, including collecting them from a Ticketmaster outlet or the Canberra and Region Visitors Centre, having them sent by mail, registered post or express delivery or collecting them from the venue. Find out about costs associated with delivery.

What kind of concessions do you accept?

Pension cardholders, seniors cardholders and tertiary student ID card holders. These people are required to provide evidence of this at time of purchase or collection eg, pensions card or student ID cards. Please note that children under four are admitted free.

What age are children classified as?

4-16 years old.

What is Floriade NightFest’s refund policy?

There is no refund or exchange on any ticket except in accordance with the AEIA Code of Practice for Event Ticketing in Australia

What happens if my ticket is lost or stolen?

When a patron is faced with a lost or stolen ticket, they must ring the Ticketmaster call centre on 136 100 as soon as this is realised.

What are the terms and conditions of my ticket?

Tickets are available for sale through Ticketmaster and their purchasing policy can be viewed on the Ticketmaster website.
